About SIL Matching

More than just a free bedroom.

Finding the right SIL home is rarely just about whether a bedroom is free. It is about whether the home suits the participant's support needs, whether the location works for family visits and community connections, and whether the existing housemates are a good match for someone new joining the household.

Our vacancy listings are written to give you enough information to know whether a home is worth exploring further. For each property, we share the suburb, the type of home, the SDA design category where relevant, occupancy options, property features, assistive technology, and what the surrounding area offers. Tap any listing to see the full property details, photos and next steps.

About SIL
How It Works

From enquiry to move-in

Nothing gets locked in based on a website listing alone. Here is how a SIL match actually comes together.

01

Enquiry call

A conversation about needs, preferences and the home that caught your eye. Support coordinators welcome on the call.

02

Home visit

Visit the home, meet the team, see the space. We arrange visits respectfully so existing residents are comfortable.

03

Trial period

Where appropriate, spend some time with the existing housemates. Overnight stays help confirm the fit.

04

Move-in support

We plan the transition carefully so moving day feels manageable and the first weeks go smoothly.

FAQs

SIL vacancy FAQs

How often do new SIL vacancies come up?
It varies. Vacancies open when an existing resident moves out, when a new home opens, or when an arrangement changes. We update our listings as openings come up and we keep an interest list for participants whose needs match homes we know are likely to have future openings.
Can I view a SIL home before deciding?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it. A short visit tells you more than any listing ever can. We arrange viewings respectfully so existing residents are comfortable.
What happens if I am not approved for SIL funding yet?
You can still talk to us. Many participants explore SIL options before their funding is confirmed. We can help you understand what might be a good fit and that information can be useful when you discuss SIL with your planner or support coordinator.
Are vacancies first-come-first-served?
Not exactly. Suitability is the main factor. A vacancy goes to the participant whose needs, preferences and compatibility match best, not just the first to enquire.
What if no current vacancies suit me?
We add you to our interest list with detail on what you are looking for. When something matching opens up, we get in touch. In the meantime, we can talk you through other options including transitional accommodation or referrals to other providers.
