Disability Travel Support

Getting to an appointment, work, or a friend's place shouldn't depend on whether a taxi turns up or public transport feels manageable that day. Disability travel support gives NDIS participants a reliable way to get where they need to go, with a support worker who knows their needs.

Aussie Bridge Care provides travel and transport support across Brisbane and South East Queensland, whether that's a support worker driving you, travelling with you on public transport, or both.

What disability travel support covers

Why the right support worker matters for travel

A support worker who already knows your regular route, and your preferences around conversation, music, or quiet time, makes travel far less stressful than being driven by whoever happens to be free. We prioritise consistency for regular travel bookings, the same worker, the same routine, wherever rostering allows.

Travel training toward independence

For participants working toward independent travel, our support workers can ride public transport with you for as long as it takes, stepping back gradually as confidence builds, rather than assuming independence should happen all at once.

Why choose Aussie Bridge Care

Funding disability travel support

Transport is typically funded in one of two ways: Transport funding in your Core Supports budget covers the cost of the trip itself, while a support worker's time travelling with you is generally funded under Assistance with Daily Life or Community Participation. We'll clarify which line applies to your situation before starting.

Handling changes and cancellations

Appointments move, plans change, and sometimes a scheduled trip needs to shift at short notice. We'd rather hear about a change early than have a support worker turn up to an empty house, so let us know as soon as a trip needs to be adjusted.

Where possible, we cover last-minute changes with a worker already briefed on your routine, rather than leaving a gap in the schedule or sending someone unfamiliar with your preferences.

Problems Faced by NDIS Participants

Unreliable transport is one of the quiet barriers that can undo an otherwise good NDIS plan, a missed appointment, a missed shift, a missed social event, all because a ride fell through. Participants working toward independent travel also often find providers unwilling to invest the time needed for proper travel training, defaulting instead to driving them everywhere indefinitely.

How We Solve This & How Active We Are

We prioritise consistency for regular travel bookings, the same worker, the same routine, and we invest in genuine travel training for participants working toward independence, stepping back gradually rather than assuming independence should happen all at once. We're active across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Redland, Gold Coast, and Sunshine Coast, matching support workers to your regular routes and preferences.
