Personal Care in Redland: The Difference the Right Support Makes

Nobody shops for personal care twice for fun. Most people looking at this page have already had a provider that did not work out, and what they want is not a list of services. It is a straight answer about what will be different this time. So this page is built as a comparison: what support looks like when it is not working, and what it looks like when the right provider is in place.

Aussie Bridge Care is a registered NDIS provider (registration 432017995) with more than 20 years in community support and workers across Cleveland, Capalaba, Victoria Point and Redland Bay.

The Old Way vs. The Aussie Bridge Way

Without reliable supportWith Aussie Bridge Care
A different worker every week, and the shower routine explained from scratch each time.A primary support worker on your regular shifts, plus one or two named backups who have read your care plan before they arrive.
The NDIS plan sits in a drawer because nobody has translated it into a roster. We read the plan with you, map supports to line items, and write the service agreement in plain English.
A cancellation at 6:30am and a voicemail box that is checked at nine.A named coordinator who takes the call, and a briefed backup worker who covers the shift.
A care plan that clearly began life as a template for someone else.A plan built from your actual routine: what time you shower, how transfers are done, what you want to keep doing yourself.
Updates only when something has gone wrong.Shift notes you can see, direct access to the coordination team, and reviews when your circumstances change rather than once a year.
Gender or cultural preferences raised at the bathroom door and awkwardly worked around.Preferences recorded at the first meeting, applied to backups, and treated as a requirement of the service.

Our Personal Care Services in Redland

Hygiene and Bathing Support

Showering, bathing, washing and drying, skin checks and oral care. Your products, your routine, your choice of a male or female worker.

Dressing and Grooming

Dressing, fastenings, compression garments, shaving, hair and nail care. The worker does the parts you need and leaves the rest to you.

Mobility and Transfers

Bed to chair, chair to shower, chair to car. Hoists, slide sheets and mobility aids used the way your occupational therapist specified, by workers trained in manual handling. Two-person transfers are rostered with two people.

Continence Care

Toileting support, continence aids and pad changes, and catheter or stoma routines where they sit within a support worker's scope. Anything requiring clinical oversight is picked up by our community nursing team instead.

Medication Reminders

Prompts at the right time, help with dosette packs, confirmation the dose was taken, and a flag to your coordinator when something is missed. Administration is a nursing task and is treated as one.

Meal Preparation

Shopping, cooking, portioning and support at the table, including assistance with eating and drinking, and mealtime management plans followed as written.

Respite and Overnight Support

Sleepover shifts, active overnight support, and respite blocks that keep the existing routine going while a family carer takes a break.

Common Struggles Families Face in Redland

How We Solve It, Point by Point

Local Redland workers, including the bay. Our workers live in the Redlands and know the area, including the ferry and water taxi timetables from Redland Bay to Russell, Macleay, Lamb and Karragarra. Island shifts are rostered around the boat, not around a hope.

Safety-focused care plans with real check-ins. Transfers and bathroom routines are documented with the equipment and technique specified. Workers record what they observed, and a change in skin integrity, mobility or continence gets escalated to your coordinator rather than noted and forgotten.

Rosters built around the family, not just the participant. If the pressure point is 6:30am on weekdays so a carer can get to work, that is where we put the shift. If it is Saturday afternoons so someone can have four hours to themselves, we roster that instead.

Who We Support

Getting Started: Before and After

The steps in between are short: a free call (07 3472 7562), a meeting at your home or online, a care plan built from your routine, one or two proposed workers for you to meet, and then shifts. Most participants start within 7 to 10 days. Hospital discharge and urgent situations can often start within 48 hours.

Our rates match the NDIS Price Guide. Rates vary by time of day, day of week and shift type, and we will go through the exact line items with you before anything is signed.
Give your current provider the notice stated in their service agreement, usually 14 days, and tell your plan manager or support coordinator. We handle the handover from our end. Changing providers is your right and it does not need to be difficult.
That is the intention. You have a primary worker on your regular shifts and named backups for when they are unavailable, so continuity holds even on sick days.
Island shifts are arranged case by case around ferry timetables. Call us with your suburb and the hours you need and we will tell you honestly what we can roster.
Yes. We ask at the first meeting rather than waiting for you to raise it, and the preference applies to backup workers as well.
